Progress Report

After I repaired my crashed windows system, good news came in succession.

1. Googol’s items/magics names exporter/inserter is finished, and works perfectly well. You can see from the snapshot below.

2. Derrik’s script dumper is done, too. And we can see his inserter on the horizen.

Hey Jacky, I ended up stopping on the inserter when you showed me that picture of the font. Spent the rest of the night working to try and pull off a better job.

Tell me what you think of this. It uses the 8th option for text effect (normal weight + glow shadowing). The font is an adapted version of Apple‘s Monaco font. I think it looks pretty darn good!

Hey guys, I found this out to be very interesting..and Xian Jian is definity still my favorite RPG game of all time. I‘ve been trying to hack the orignal DOS version of Xian 1 but no help. I‘ve modified the M.MSG file and tried to type english in but in the game it wouldn‘t read..it came out with random characters….anyways I found out this project very interesting. If it is possible I would like to join your team. I‘m trying to get my American friends into this game because I‘ve told them the storyline and they‘re enjoying it so much. Anways just give me a mail if you need any help I‘ll be glad to help you guys out. I‘ve learned Chinese (Mandrin) for 6 years at Taiwan and I can read/speak/type and somewhat translate them to English..but I forgot how to write them. I‘ve watched the Xian Jian TV series and played Xian 3, they are all pretty sweet and I‘m still working on Xian 3..anyways..give me a note if you need any help. Thanks.

Well, thank you very much for your concern, Colin, and I‘m very glad to hear that you‘re willing to help us with the project. But as you know, we have already made our schedule as a four man team, and assigned certain work to each team member, so I think it‘s not a good idea to change our plan at present time.
But when it comes to the testing process, I think it would be very helpful if you could help us test the game and spread it with your friends.
Our testing process will start in early May when we release our first trial version of the game. I hope you are still interested in our project at that time.

OK No problem, I\‘m glad I\‘m able to test the trial version of modified Xian. Hopefully I\‘m able to discovery various bugs and stuffs for yall. Can\‘t wait for the English version :)

Hi, I‘m a xian jian lover in Singapore located in south east asia. I too played xian jian by chance when i visited my aunt in hk. I went crazy over the game immediately. I‘ve played xian jian dos version, window version. As I do not know much in programming I only request you guys to allow me to help out in testing the english version for this game. ^_^
I‘m so happy to actually know there are ppl out there trying to translate this game. As many Singaporean gamers heard about the game, its a pity that because of their bad chinese they couldnt understand the game. I really think a english translated xian jian could helps them a lot.
And can I introduce and link you guys from my singapore xian jian forum?
It‘s a very new forum, but I‘ll try my best to manage it… hoping to get more xian jian lovers to come in to chat. Maybe i could help spread the news and get them to test also!

finally i see now that you guys start cracking the newer version of PAL now eh? cool~

just have a quick question, I wonder if it is possible for you guys to make a crack program to incompile the database and put the orginal pictures back to its own format on the hard drive.

if that is possible, Iem sure that will be a hit, and definitely going to get a lot of peoplees attention(guys like me who wants to use those nice background pictures without all the status bars for their webpage or even wallpaper). and i think basically that can count as a self-promotion just to help you guys out to let them have the motivation to help you to speard out the words to their foreign friends iat i knew plenty of people who are in the situation like this ^_^.

if you are able and willing to make this crack program, I will be most appreciated for the help~~!! thanks

Thank you all for you concerning!
I‘m really happy to see so many xian jian fans willing to help us when I‘m in a difficult time of applying for a master‘s programme abroad(British, I think, or maybe Australia).
And I promise the trial of the game will be released in early May.

  12. Barbabubble says:

Wow…you have the whole game translated into Chinese? That is amazing. Xian Jian was the first RPG I played from the beginning to the end and I liked it a lot. Thank you for your work and I‘m glad more people will be able to play it since now it has the English version :)

  13. Emmy says:
